A Walk Down Memory Lane at Woden Primary School

Woden Primary School was formerly known as Springfield Secondary Modern Boys School. The school have over the last few years welcomed former students back to visit and this year the Years 5 and 6 school councillors had the honor of guiding the past pupils around the school. The visitors were captivated by how much the school environment has evolved, marveling at the resources and facilities now available to students.

As they toured the classrooms, the alumni reminisced about their own school days, sharing fascinating stories with students – showing them where the different lessons were taught. One enthusiastic visitor even joined a PE lesson, enjoying a game of badminton with our students—a moment of fun that bridged generations.

The children were especially intrigued by tales of discipline from decades ago, including punishments like being hit with a slipper for being late or forgetting homework. These stories provided a glimpse into how much education has changed over the years and left our pupils amazed at how different school life used to be.

This event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich history of the school and foster a connection between past and present. We’re grateful to the former students for sharing their memories and to the children for representing Woden Primary School with such pride.
